Last December, the Trudeau government announced the creation of the Canadian Performing Arts Workers Resilience Fund managed by Canadian Heritage.

CDA, in collaboration with dance associations and service organizations, has applied to provide up to $2500 in direct assistance to self-employed dance workers and artists in need of urgent support.

We expect to have a response by June.

If we are successful with our application, CDA and all partners will ensure that funds are distributed in a simple and efficient manner. We will prioritize those who have been hardest hit by the pandemic: IBPOC, racialized, LGBTQ2S, Deaf, disabled, minority language speakers, rural and underserved areas, and do so with an intersectional approach to best serve marginalized dance workers and artists in need.

It is with a concern for accountability and transparency that we undertake this process.
