Canadian Dance Assembly (CDA) has received funds from Canadian Heritage to support independent dancers, whose primary focus is performance.
It is understood that many independent dance artists fulfill multiple roles as part of their artistic practice. The CDA fund however, is intended to support artists who primarily work as independent, non salaried DANCERS.
If you identify as an independent dancer whose primary focus is performance, you can apply to CDA.
If you primarily identify as a choreographer, or dance dramaturg, rehearsal director, lighting designer, technical director, stage manager, production manager, costume designer, etc. then you need to apply through the AFC.
Accommodations to complete application process available, please contact email@example.com
We prioritize Equity Deserving Communities, please self-identify.
We prioritize those who have been hardest hit by the pandemic: IBPOC, racialized people, 2SLGBTQIA+, deaf people, persons with disabilities, minority language speakers, rural and underserved areas, and do so with an intersectional approach to best serve marginalized dancers in need.
Please attach/upload a resumé, C.V. or biography indicating your experience. Your document doesn’t need to be exhaustive. We also know that a lot of dancers couldn't work regularly during the pandemic.
If you are currently receiving disability financial support and need emergency funds, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to see how we can accommodate.
Share any links to all dance-related media, social media accounts, websites, articles, tours/shows, etc. that help to illustrate your work in dance.
Record audio or video response to application questions only if needed (5 minutes max.)
For administration and statistical purposes only:
This funding is considered taxable income. It is your responsibility to declare it in the tax year 2022-2023. The only documentation needed to do so is the confirmation email you receive from CDA. You will not receive any T4A slips from CDA.
