Pushmakers

Pushmakers is a wheelchair user dancer led disability dance organization. We believe that the joy of moving your body is a powerful tool that belongs to everyone. Our work envisions a future where every wheelchair user has spaces in their own communities that can skillfully and joyfully support their journey to develop a sense of partnership with their body and artistry.

Top image: Shay and Paulina, both white non-binary wheelchair users in their 30s dance together in a connected spin while looking each other deeply in the eye. They are facing each other with Paulina’s back facing towards the camera. They are dancing in a large theatre space with a large, curved staircase rising above them on the right side of the hall. Bottom image: Six manual wheelchair users pose for a group photo against a green brick wall in the rain. They are wearing bright colourful clothing and all are smiling big with their arms raised above their heads excitedly.
