Curatorial decisions are currently made by guest curators selected by committees of dance practitioners to ensure that the broadest community of dancers and choreographers are being served.

Job Description:
Call for Marketing and Development Manager at Dancemakers
Dancemakers is looking to hire a part-time Marketing and Development Manager. This role will work in close collaboration with Artistic Producer, Cara Spooner. The Dancemakers team also includes a part time bookkeeper and a volunteer board of directors comprised of dance artists and arts workers.
The company is in the process of gathering community feedback with the Laboratory for Artistic Intelligence and Community Impact Consulting to further shape this nomadic, project-led format while simultaneously supporting presentations in a range of contexts, scales, dance forms and locations. This opportunity has provided the almost 50-year-old company to re-make itself and the Marketing and Development Manager will contribute to this company shaping.
Dancemakers currently has multi-year operating funding (confirmed until 2026) and is also on annual operating granting cycles. This position’s contract will be renewed yearly based on funding results. Part of the position’s aim is to diversify funding streams and our goal is to transition this role into a permanent position by 2025.
As the role develops, if additional hours, responsibilities and/or tasks are required, Dancemakers is prepared to adjust the contract to account for shifts in scope. This role’s intention is to incrementally adapt and grow based on the needs and capacity of what is required within a healthy and sustainable working environment. Interviews will be held in person or online during the weeks of March 6-10 & March 13-17, 2023 with the intention to offer the role to the successful candidate the week of March 20, 2022.
The first day of work is to be decided in collaboration with the selected candidate (late March or April 2023). Dancemakers’ fiscal year runs from August 1-July 31 annually.
Declination letters to unsuccessful candidates will be sent once the selected candidate has been confirmed.

Qualification:Skills and Experience required:
Knowledge and experience working in any form of dance within the current Canadian context
Commitment to anti-oppression, anti-racist, and anti-ableist practices
Commitment to community-led processes and practices
Ability to work independently as well as in close collaboration with Dancemakers’ Artistic Producer
Experience working with (or a willingness to learn) WordPress/SquareSpace*, Microsoft Excel and Outlook, Canada Helps, SquareUp, Mailchimp and social media platforms
Experience designing in Canva and/or Adobe Suite*
Development Goals & Expectations
Researching and applying for foundations and grants
Obtaining and maintaining individual donors
Obtaining and maintaining corporate sponsorship
Managing Dancemakers’ marley dance floor and projector rentals
Managing Delta Bingo charity license and volunteers
Managing Charitable status and Not-for-Profit status (with ONCA standards)
Managing CADAC profile
Assisting with annual and multi-year operating grants and/or select project grants
Processing invoices and maintaining financial records for audit
Marketing Goals & Expectations
Creating and disseminating public communication through Mailchimp, social media campaigns and maintaining our website using brand guides*
Creating and disseminating other forms of marketing and advertising such as paid advertisements (online and/or in print)
Working with partners on shared marketing, ticketing and audience development
Ensuring that online accessibility standards are met for all online communications
Creating marketing campaigns that are artistically-minded and representational of the work being supported through aesthetic, language and tone
*Dancemakers is currently engaging in a re-design process to create a new website with CoEffect to which the role of Marketing and Development Manager will be actively involved with.
Remuneration:Information about the role
Salary: $27,500.00 (annual contract renewed yearly) + benefits
Flexible work schedule – 2 days a week (or the equivalent of 16 hours a week)
Remote/in office (office located at 410 Jarvis Street – please note: this office is not accessible)
