Artist Encounter: Brian, Elizabeth, Harmonie, Shay

An online connective meeting space for sharing of intersecting dance practises.

The Canadian Dance Assembly offers a meeting space to encounter four incredible dance artists as they embrace the places where their practises intersect and diverge. In this one-hour online space, you’ll meet Brian Solomon (Northern Kanadario/Ontario and Tkaronto/Toronto), Elizabeth Winkelaar (Odawe/Ottawa), Harmanie Rose (Coast Salish Territories/Vancouver), and facilitating artist Shay Erlich (Tkaronto/Toronto).

Together their discussion may include: practicing dance, challenging trendy notions of diversity, and integrating access-centered approaches.

  • How do we create spaces of joy for disabled dancers?
  • How do we broaden the concept of disability?
  • How does the uniqueness of bodies develop dance aesthetics?

With less opportunity for chance meetings while we are online, CDA aims to open an online connective meeting place where dialogue between artists can arise and be witnessed. Come delight in deepening community connection through this conversation!
