Arts Day on the Hill

The Canadian Arts Coalition is moving forward with plans for its third Arts Day on Parliament Hill, Tuesday October 25th, 2011.

The breakfast and briefing session will be held at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa starting at either 7 or 7:30 a.m. (to be confirmed). Meetings with MPs and Senators will run throughout the day, and the end-of-day reception on Parliament Hill (co-hosted by the Deputy Speaker of the House) will go from 5:00 pm – 7:00 p.m. This will be a great opportunity to chat with a variety of MPs as well as political staff so you’ll want to make sure you are still in town that evening.

To sign up send us an email at: info@canadianartscoalition.ca.

What are the Issues?

CDA promotes a variety of issues that impact the dance sector and we adapt our key asks, messages and strategies to the working environment as it evolves.

In collaboration with our partners, CDA has defined two leading priorities.

1) That the Government of Canada invest in Canadian creativity and Canadian communities by increasing the base budget of the Canada Council for the Arts by an additional $30 million per year in each of the next four years, bringing the Council’s funding base to $300 million per annum by 2015.

2)That the Government of Canada acknowledge the role that arts and culture plays in enhancing Canada’s reputation internationally and put Canadian artists on the world stage by investing $25 million in strategic international market access and development initiatives.
